Machine World Districts

The last machine world experiment made the world quite boring. This experiment serves to change that. Voronoi diagrams are a great way to create cells that look like districts that are randomly made. This adds to the chaotic nature of the planet and also makes it a realistic way to cover a sphere (unlike squares).

Machine World Procedural Generation Experiment

Because creating a voronoi diagram in Unreal Engine 4 with meshes is out of my reach at the moment, I had to fake it for now. I created a voronoi diagram using a plane and the cell fracture add-on in blender.

From here I took a rough hexagonal shape because it is easy to repeat. This will be useful later on to see if it will look better on a bigger scale.

After exporting the shape into Unreal Engine 4, I added a unique tower to every district on roughly the same place as the point from where the cell has been made in Blender. Then I added buildings to the districts in such a way that they are distinguishable. After this I repeated the hexagon to see the result.

This works continues the Machine World Project.
